My Top Five Favorite Yarns

Here are my top five favorite yarns to work with.

  • Red Heart Soft
It's really smooth and easy to work with. It's versatile and works for any project that requires worsted weight yarn.

  • Lion Brand Organic Cotton
It's a soft, light yarn that makes it quick and easy to finish warm weather gifts!

  • Lion Brand Vanna's Choice
This is another versatile yarn that can be used for so many projects. It looks great with any size needles and works for both warm and cold weather projects.

  • Loops and Threads Charisma
This is soft and easy to make quick gifts with. Unlike other bulky weight yarns it doesn't loose it's softness over time.

  • Lion Brand Hometown USA
This is an awesome bulky yarn that is great for quick gifts and makes warm projects easy to make!

Hope this helps you choose your yarn!

Cheers,
M.E.J.

Pattern of the Week!

Hello, Crafters!
Sorry it's been a while, but here's a link to a fun pattern from Lion Brand Yarn!

http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/L10502.html?noImages=&r=1

I used Vanna's Choice yarn instead of Amazing and Wool-Ease.

Above is my finished product.

Tip of the Week

Greetings, crafters!
Today I'd like to talk about leftovers. We all know that's one of the best parts of a holiday dinner, right? Well, it's a great way to create new projects, too! Saving small balls of yarn can be very helpful in saving money and utilizing the entire skein.
Below is an example of a way I use my leftovers; a cookies and cream beret (which I will post the pattern for eventually).
I hope your leftovers are tasty!

Cheers,
M.E.J.

A Great Book for Knitters

I know it seems cliche, but I just finished reading the first book in the series and I have to say...I was moved to tears. It's a rarity that books make me cry, (save several moments in the Harry Potter series...) and I am so happy to share this with anyone who loves to knit or even just read.

I highly recommend "The Friday Night Knitting Club" by Kate Jacobs.

Happy Monday!
Here's an original pattern I came up with to share with you all!

Knit Basket Weave Hat Pattern:

1) Knit 3, Pearl 3 for the entire row
2) Join ends
3) Knit 3, Pearl 3 for the next two rows.
4) Switch to Pearl three, knit three for three rows
5) continue from step 1 until you have nine rows of squares, (27 rows)
6) Finishing: Increase 2, knit 5, decrease 1. Continue for row.
7) Knit 4, decrease 1. Continue for row.
8)Knit 3, decrease 1. Continue for row.
9) Knit 2, decrease 1. Continue for row.
10) Knit 1, decrease 1. Continue for row.
11) Decrease every stitch until you have 6 stitches left.
12) Gather stitches, tie off, weave in ends.

And'ja done!

Enjoy!
